here in Missouri there is a tax on food. if a wealthy person goes in and buys $100.00 of groceries and a working poor person buys $100.00 of groceries, they pay the same tax. that is not fair at all, and everyone needs food. they need to do away with food tax and have or increase the luxury tax. your thoughts

here in Tennessee, not only are we taxed on food, but have one of the highest sales tax in the country..9.25%!!!....Kentucky state line is about 6min from where I live, and a big college town about 20min away. NO tax on food! We are taxed to death!! I do think Senior Citizens on Social Security shouldn't pay tax on anything. They have already paid in enough to draw SSI, and if they die immediately after beginning to draw it the state gets ALL that money.....It doesn't go to their heirs, the state gets it all....someone was pretty smart on how to screw the little guy that's for sure!!!!!!.

I don't agree with the concept of tax on food but what bothers you more, that poor people have to pay it, or that rich people don't pay more? Food is not a luxury, so your example doesn't really fit into the question of implementing or raising luxury tax.

Of course it is.There are so many taxes and fees and piggyback taxes and piggyback fees,it is disgusting. As long as we have an irresponsible government and freeloaders who live on government handouts we will continue to see more and higher taxes.Enough is enough.Lets get the welfare class off their lazy a.s.s. and make them work so they can pay taxes and help like the rest of us do.
