Would you recommend a Playstation 3 intercooler?

My PS3 gets hot and I was wondering if an intercooler is worth the investment. Also, I don't understand how it works. Is it a fan? Does it make noise? Thanks.

I've read bad things about the intercoolers they make for the systems. I don't think you need one really. I've never had one for mine and I've never had a problem with it from day one. My Playstations have always worked without a fan or anything extra. I think that's just a gimmick to get your $.
