I am getting one on Friday and studied for this stuff like there's no tomorrow. My daughter is about a year and a half and she still nurses when she goes to bed. I called her pedi and the lactation center at the hospital and they said that if the place that you're going to is using sanitary means (new needles and autoclaved equipment) then it should be fine. I was told by the hospital lactation center that the ink is too large to actually get into the blood stream and the milk ducts and therefore, it should be fine.

Just to be on the safe side, I would wait. When I got my tattoo, I was told the ink could cause liver problems for me (I wasn't pregnant or breastfeeding, just to be clear), so who knows what could happen while you are breastfeeding.

Maybe ask the baby's doctor for advice...

good question

I wouldn't. Wait until the baby is born, and done breastfeeding (if you are going to breastfeed). I have 3 tattoos (I got them long ago in my youth...) and I would just assume that some ink contaminates your body...?...?... But I don't know.... It just makes sense to me not to take the chance that it would hurt your baby.

Why take the Chance?

Here in the USA, there are safeguards to ensure that the Ink and the Tattoo artist and their equipment are Sterile!

Maybe not so, where you are?

Thanks, RR

You can't till then? What's the urgency? Also, if you have to ask then I'd say no.

Why would you want to? Can you wait until your finished breastfeeding? Do you know of any of the dangers of tatooing? Baby comes first. Duh
