lots of insurances dont cover fences so you will have to check your policy. if you are going to blame the vandals..you will have to have made a police report as the insurance company will want proof that you have been a victim of a crime...not sure even then if they will pay out for a fence...lets face it - they will do anything they can to get out of paying for ANYTHING!! - quick enough to take our premiums though!

Hi,
I would keep quiet about the activities of vandals, and stick to the truth that said fence just blew over.
Assuming that your home insurance covers out buildings, greenhouse, fencing etc, they should cough up.
This "Act of God" thing does not really apply, apart from lightening strikes I found out.
Insurance companies will do allsorts to wheedle out of a claim, of course.
I sent a letter to mine, with a "copy" of an email from my God, saying - "Whoops, sorry about that, Bob, wrong place.
They payed up for new roof tiling, as I think a bit of humour in this department goes a long way.
All the best with the fence.
Bob.

Insurance companies hate paying out! If they say "it was an act of god" tell them you want to see him & ask him about it . How do they know God did it ?Where's the proof . In other words be a time consuming pain in their neck. Is there a police report on the vandalism?

Doesn`t make any difference. Play it smart, keep your mouth shut, and fix your fence. The cost of fixing the fence should be under your deductible.

The way Insurance Companies are operating you will not be renewed on your next policy date, due to having a claim.

To acquire Insurance from another company you will pay an extra lug.

Never file a claim un less it is a big one.

Acts of God don't typically include vandals. Wait, unless He has vandals working for Him... wait, no, He doesn't. Seems like your in the clear then!

READ YOUR POLICY FIRST. If your policy covers both vandalism and high winds, then pick yourself. If not, then pick the one that they do cover. Most policies don't cover fences anyways. Afterall, they are on a border with your neighbor and very easily messed up.

This may cheer you up (link below), send it to the insurance company and it may cheer them up enough to swing the wind of change in your favour

You are lucky that you are not me, I still cannot get insurance without a heavy loading because I am as an Epileptic still rated as a substandard life by the underwriters and in these days of political correctness and the fight against discrimination it amazes me that all categories of people are protected against such discriminatory terminology and practices except for us poor Epileptics for whom things never change.

Report it as an act of vandalism, certainly not an act of God.
I would just tell then it was Vandalised

you have to call your insurance company. also it is how you state the claim. i don't think what you described is an act of god. it is vandalism.
