Is France the wimpiest nation in history? Or Italy? Or someone else?

I think it must be all the nations that follow Washington like spineless, scared little puppy dogs; afraid to be the next victim of the world's boogeyman. France is one of the countries that does not do that, Paris has stuck to their beliefs from day one. That is what i call character!

I admire the French they had a massive empire as well as Britain and they look after themselves and don't want to depend on anyone unlike Britain where we go cap in hand to buy all the USA stuff, the French build their own. They would not have to ask the USA to use Nuclear weapons like Britian would do if it felt threatened. Also Britian has purchased military aircraft from the USA such as the Apache helicopter, but the USA government refused to give Britian the codes for the electronic software to repair the damn things. I don't know if this situation has changed. The French wouldn't tolerate that sort of behaviour, but Britian would because we are stupid.
Regards WW2 yes the French didn't perform well, but there were reasons behind it poor moral in the French forces, aircraft not capable of competing against the German aircraft. They were also badly led. But calling them wimps is totally out of the question. As for the Italians again in reality they weren't prepared to fight a modern war (ww2) their equipment was light and way out of date. Their aircraft were very poor until the introduction of planes such Macchi 202 Folgore and the Macchi 205 Folgore which were both fantastic fighter aircraft which most people have never heard of, but they couldn't be produced in decent numbers. They had many brave pilots fighting with out of date aircraft. The Italian navy was modern, but ships were mainly kept in port. They did however make a brave and succesful attack on the Brits using midget submarines if my memory serves me right.
At the end of the day, if you have good moral and are well led you will have a good fighting force and that goes for any country.

The Germans by and large were the most professional and well led, but generally fought with less men and materials (tanks, aircraft etc). Where German forces were fighting with equal resources it was the Germans that generally won.

If you're talking about all of history, France definitely gives a strong candidacy, but Poland probably beats them in the long run. Poland was conquered by Russians, Germans, Mongols, Huns, French, and the list goes on and on. Although France didn't really participate much in World War II, they were the main focus and power of World War I, and have had their flashes of brilliance in the past, including Napolean's campaigns, Joan of Arc, and even Charlemagne. Poland, on the other hand, was passed between other nations' hands for a thousand years until they were GRANTED land by the peace accords after World War II.

Why do you keep hating on the French? They had many wars, even though in the past it seemed like they lost the majority of the wars, but France is not a wimp, think about Napoleon Bonaparte, in WW1, the French ruled, in WW2 the war would have been harder if the French has not resisted German rule so much in the French Resistance

The real wimps are the Indonesians. They're the hotbed of terrorism and don't do anything to keep themselves safe. Building the tallest buildings in the world on a major earthquake fault isn't too bright, either.

Italy have indeed shown their true colours during ww2.Their tanks having only reverse gears.

But first prize deservingly goes to france who have shown cowardice and treachery at every sniff of combat.

Frances capitulation during ww2 and the vichy collaboration ultimately sowed the seeds fort he deaths of millions.

Even frances vichy colonies fought allied forces in africa and allowed japanese to march into french indo china.

Even after anglo american forces liberated france ,the frogs never seem to have demonstrated gratitude or loyalty ,even to this day.

I certainly would have preferred germany as my continental neighbour ,instead of these spiteful cowards.
