I would use a calendar and planning system. You can have a large wall calendar that outlines your overall plan for the next six months: each week can be devoted to a particular topic or test strategy, and then you can have a more focused, daily plan on a weekly/daily planner that you keep on your desk. This system works really well for me in all areas of my life, because I can keep track of my large goals while also breaking them down and tackling them in small daily steps.

I also find that using a little timer is very handy for limiting procrastination. I can set it to 30 mins and then surf the web or goof off, but then also set a goal of studying for my exams for 1 hour a day, then I know that when I finish that 1 hour, I am all set. The timer has been invaluable, because I have a tendency to let the time run away with my entire day :-D I also find it helpful to do the studying first, if you can, set the timer and just get it done, 45 mins, 1 1/2 hour, whatever it is, and then when the timer goes off, you know you are completely home-free for the rest of the day. It is a great feeling! And one that is much better than that feeling of dread one typically has when they do they have all kinds of things they are neglecting to have fun :-D I got my timer at Amazon.com for $7 and its this little white timer by "Polder" that has an arched top and is very small and has a number of options like "vibrate," "blinking light"....it has been priceless to me! Hope this helps/good luck!

Set yourself up a schedule and reward yourself every half hour or so with a 10 to 15 minute break. It takes some serious self-discipline if you're going to just sit down and study. The greatest quote I could give to you right now is, "When you work, you work. When you play, you play. When you study, you study." My father always tells me that, and it is the only way to succeed in each.

My answer might not be so beneficial, but I'll type it anyway…

It seems to me that you are the "non-studier" type of person. I.e. no matter how much you want to study, you just can't. I was like that – and the only way I was able to get myself to sit and study was to study on the night before the exams…
I tried everything, and nothing worked…

So just accept who you are and don't pressure yourself. You'll do fine! :)

I've had this problem in the past and it got me into trouble where i had to rush to complete the exams. Thus, i didn't do as well as i could have.

How i fixed this problem, is i sat aside 4 hours of everyday usually very early in the morning when nothing was happening anywhere else, like 2am to 6am.

I had no where to go and it's usually dark outside and nothing else to distract me.

You need to write down some REALLY good reasons why you Must study, they need to be so powerful that whenever you think about them you get up right away and study..that is motives.

you also need to set up good place to study without distractions esp. TV.
see when it suits you to study better,is it at night or in the early morning!!
Good Luck :)

Find a quite study area well lit and comfortable. Then think of all the money you'll make if you just finish the task.

The power cord for my laptop is always just out of reach. I hate it when the battery runs out and I don't see the little warning icon and the computer shuts down on me, right in the middle of something.
