The other driver, under age 18, at fault, unharmed, cited by police, is insured on his dad's policy, driving his dad's vehicle, was traveling on a interstate highway, cited for UnAttention, Lost Control, Improper lane change, Excessive Speed on a snowed/wet road, spin out, crossing his own lanes, then crossing the medium into the grassy area in a spin, then entering lanes of coming interstate highway traffic, hit my family member, both of them had to be cut out of the car by fire dept and transported. .... Today both continuing to recover from this. ... any thoughts how to settle ??? the direction to go and what could I expect as an outcome?

All I have to say is that if the accident was that bad, and the other driver was cited, there isnt much work to do except hire an attorney to file the correct paperwork for them . They need to concentrate on getting better.
The lawyers studied hard and long to handle this type of thing.
Let the Drs mend them, and the lawyers help them get compensated for thier losses.

Sorry to hear about this.. best wishes for their speedy recovery and thank somebody up above that they were not killed.

Contact the police department and get the other owners insurance company and contact them to start with. If you are not satisfied, 100%, with how they react retain a good accident lawyer.

sorry to say but it looks like your family member is going to have file a claim through their insurance....let the insurance company go after that person.......its gonna take awhile depending on their injuries and if any rehabilitation is gonna be needed....just wait it out and keep all medical receipts....hopefully it wont be to long but most of the time its going to be a long processes...
