I'm ashamed to be American and whenever I travel to better countries I pretend to be French. I am worried that if I admit I come from the USA then superior foreign nationals will laugh at me or foce me to clean their boots.

Wow that's a first. I didnt think it was possible for an American to have a lack of national pride. I do have to confess that foreign nationals do laugh at your expense, sometimes it's just in good fun, other times it's not. But who gives a bugger anyway? Just be happy with who you are and if others don't like it, tough.

wow that's something new... i thought americans think highly of themselves that they trip everytime because they're not looking on the road... i guess im wrong. Hey, if you feel that way... think of how smaller countries feel about you first world countries.....
