You seem to be a fatalist. I can only answer from a Christian perspective. God is in control, however much humankind does it's best to make a mess of His creation. No, the war was not inevitable, and certainly wasn't God's doing, for He is a God of love. The demise of the evil Nazi regime, however, WAS inevitable, for history shows that evil never survives for ever. You can contact me if you want to take it further.
