and do u use a masonry drill to put the holes in? I lost a few in the winds last week. Thanks.

a slater would use a slate knife and a stake or you can get a cutting machine. when you use these you cut the slate from the back and this give the slate a cambered edge. you can get different sizes of slates, try your local roofing merchant that would save you cutting the slate.

get a slate cutter at any roofing supply company and on the cutters they have a punch for the holes"be sure to use copper nails" if it is a slate repair,they have copper hangers.

put a carborundum blade on your skillsaw or angle grinder you can then stand it on end and chip the cut edge to get a natural looking edge... if you can find one small enough a masonry bit will work just fine
