In the early 1970's I used SPSS to predict the enrollment of students in most public and private schools in Oregon. The input data was a combination of the census data, replies from surveys conducted each year and past enrollments.
Predictions were presented to the Oregon state legislature and when checked against actual enrollments the next year were never more than 2% different than actually occured.
