The dizziness certainly is - a lot of your blood supply is going towards creating a placenta and feeding the baby - the first few weeks are its most important as everything is being formed, after that it's 'just' growing. Not sure about the shortness of breath though, if it persists might be worth a word with your GP or midwife.

You can relax, this is very normal. During pregnancy your blood volume increases to meet the needs of you and your baby. To help prevent high blood pressure with this increased blood volume your veins and arteries become looser. This is the cause of the dizziness, a circulatory system that doesn't react fast enough to changes. The breathlessness is caused by the same problem with the addition of the increased demand for oxygen. Even though your lung volume increases and your blood volume increases, your body still may not be able to get rid of the CO2 and bring in the O2 fast enough when you start getting active.

Here are some suggestions for how to deal with it:

Good Luck, and enjoy being normal.

it is normal to feel more dizzy as your body is changing and so are your hormones. i felt very tired and dizzy for the first 3 months in my first pregnancy. after being sent for blood tests the doctor prescribed some iron and folic acid for the duration of the pregnancy

Hope so - just happened to me and I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I am not going to worry too much unless it doesn't go away. I am now snacking on fruit to keep my blood sugar up.

I had this in my second pregnancy. The MW told me it was nothing to worry about. Talk to yours at your next appointment
