I think a point was made last night by saome saying 'For all this debate about what goes on in Big Brother. How many of them actually watch the show?'
To be honest it is like alot of things in life, people get quite heated and all opinionated over issues they have very little understanding of. For example how many people get opinions on world events, but how many of those people actually directly experience those events to form a valid opinion? Most of those opinions are based on (often) biased News reports, Newspapers and hearing other (often) uninformed people talking about it!
To return to Big Brother people watch edited highlights (at best) and these are specifically edited for entertainment purposes ie editing 24 hours of people's lives into a 40 minute show! Therefore alot of the comments that fly around about both parties in the recent 'race' argument just hear a snatch of a conversation and then decide to use it to further their own agenda from being an office gossip to selling newspapers to trying to score political points to wanting to further a religious cause. It is sad, but alot of violence in our society is down to ignorance, fear and gross exaggeration or distortion of events! Big brother is just an example of that.

I don't normally watch it - I feel voyeuristic and uncomfortable doing so. I also think that watching people having banal conversations which just highlight their lack of education and stupidity is mindnumbingly boring. i'd rather read a book.
I do think it is a reflection of our society, though. It appals me to see how shallow people are. And here specifically I am thinking of the beauty queen - talk about beauty being skin deep.
I don't want to see people hurt - perhaps that is why I dislike this forum of entertainment so much. People and their pettiness are exposed and their weaknesses exploited - for other people to sneer at. I actually felt sorry for Jade - she's no different to many other girls in our society. Jealous, insecure, conceited, thick-skinned and stupid. I was angry at her behaviour, but I felt so sorry for her I couldn't watch the programme.
What a strange animal we are! The pecking order (in which the top hen pecks the one below it) was so clearly to be seen in the way Shilpa was attacked - it was nauseating. But it was mindless - and when the chickens came home to roost, I couldn't help but wonder how our society has encouraged these aggressive females. The whole lot was sickening but it happens every day.

I both agree and disagree with your statement. Whilst it does show people's real personalities and group dynamics etc, Big Brother also contributes alot to how they all respond. This is done through the tasks, nominations, evictions etc. Therefore, it's almost like people's personalities are heightened in an unrealistic situation. However, saying that, we are who we are and unless you are a very good actor, you can't disguise your personality 24/7.
And yes, I am a BB and reality TV show fan!

When I hear what was said about Shilpa, calling her names like Poppadom and telling her to go home, I am ashamed for my country. These people are racists, plain and simple. They have no right to talk down to these people and in many ways we need them, our economy would collapse without constant immigration.
Jade should join the BNP and show everyone that she's a narrow minded racist.

So you're saying that _everybody_ in the world is a famous celebrity divorced from the reality of common people.
Yeah. Right.

totally, Yes we live in contradictions and much torment.
at least i do.
big brother is an analogy that best describes our government, and the Unrighteous dominion of the illegal and covert activity.
but if it is referred to as someone who the defender of his family in the sense of righteousness and love, you get the family down graded version.
A government that is so big and so untrustworthy and is clearly caught as lying to its own people is NOT a true act of kindness or righteousness.
