Rhythm And Blues. A style of music denotable by its bluesy guitar sounds and deep vocalising, that dates back to about the 1930s. Nowadays the phrase Rnb has been coined by slow rap music, where the actual phrase rhythm and blues is no longer relevant. A general feeling that moaning about someones make believe situations counts as blues, whereas genuine rnb was started during the depression in America, where the blues were a reflection of human uncertainty and not the modern day idea of rnb (i.e. flashing money and cars and women and whining about girls)

It annoys me that people don't know the difference and i refuse to call rap (like a lot of my friends do) RnB... everyone is entitled to their own choice of music and style but why label something new with a title of old and so people now misconstrued what RnB really means!

Bring back the true meaning people!

I know what you mean, people are now classifying all the rap artists such as p.diddy and 50cent as bein rnb artists, when they are not because they are rap artists. The most true RnB artist out at the moment is without Beverly Knight, don't you agree?

Because the name RnB was hijacked by a bunch of people with no tunes and a tendency to yodel in a most unattractive way.

These days r'n'b is classified as anything from rap, hip hop and pop music. I say bring back the old school stuff!

so many new styles have come about these days, the genres have subgenres and things like that. it's part of segregation, the whites started to associate r&b with african american culture, and nowadays it's accepted as commonplace.
