I read the online article about how Michigan's State's Appeal court has ruled that extra marital flings can be prosecuted as 1st degree criminal sexual conduct(felony),with a sentence up to the rest of their life in prison. What do you think of this? What is the world coming to?

I heard about this, too. It's a really old law. Perhaps it was considered a breach of fiduciary duty and a breach of contract toward your spouse.

I think if we really tried to prosecute adulterers, no one would be left to run the businesses and schools.

I say we take care of the child predators first, and if we have time we can think about the adulterers later.

I read that article that stated only one person had been brought up on charges. I thought that after the article there are hundreds of scorned women in Michigan trying to make it one more .....

Of all the really important cases the appeals court should be addressing and this case, that has only effected one persons is what is making headlines......and by the way the one person would be in jail anyways, just not as long........

I read the article and posted a question too. My worry would be that who is going to pay to support the wife and kids (assuming the man is the adulterer) the state going to pay for that ie the taxpayers you. Besides let the wronged spouse dish out the punishment, its called alimony and child support. This will make some religious leaders happy but it is not practical or cost effective as it is expensive to house inmates.

Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree means forcible rape, regardless of age.

The jails are crowed enough. They would also be full of those from the legal profession. There are more pressing issues in Michigan than this. But maybe Michigan has their problems because they focus on goofy topic such as this.

Even the judges of that case said, "This might not be what the legislators intended." If the law doesn't get changed, people should blame the state congress of Michigan for not getting off their a sses.

No I think it is stupid to waste money warehousing people at my expense. What I'd rather see is the cheating spouse not be able to collect alimony or have custody of the children and be made to pay all costs of the divorce if the spouse who has been cuckholded wishes it! Why should some sl ut benefit from her deception?

Thats ridiculious! Cheaters are prosecuted by their spouses in their own way, be it taking them to the cleaners in a divorce or making their life miserable for the rest of their life.

No way! Compulsory marriage guidance would be a step too far, life imprisonment is just insane.

Anyone who wishes to impose this should spend a year in jail for being an idiot.
