You can take the ferry from Penang to Langkawi. It'll take approximately 2 hours 30 minutes and will cost RM50 one-way and RM95 for return trip for adults; children between 3-11 years will be RM35 for single trip and RM65 for return trip; infant below 2 years will be RM20 for single trip and RM40 for return trip. If you choose to fly, it'll take approximately 30 mins and will cost RM292 per person including airport taxes.

Yes,
take a ferry to langkawi via penang..
but its quite a long journey via bot.
what i recommend is take a bus in Butterworth to Alor Setar. (RM 20-30).. then a taxi to Kuala Kedah. (RM5-10)..
Then a ferry from Kuala Kedah (RM 20 less) to Langkawi.

its quite a long trip u have to hop between busses or transportation. But, u can enjoy the scenery while u r on the buss to alor setar.. or probably stop by alor setar for a short visit.
