If you've got some free time on your hands, Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung" is absolutely epic. Four operas, four nights, one sixteen-hour storyline. The Mahler and Tchaikovsky symphonies have some very powerful moments in them, as well. Dvorak's symphonies are also quite underrated. My favorites are the 6th and the 8th, but they all have their great moments. If you're looking for some shorter pieces (half an hour or less), there's Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," Stravinsky's "Firebird," Elgar's "Enigma Variations," and Strauss's "Till Eulenspiegel." Just a few suggestions.

The Rite of Spring (1913) by Igor Stravinsky. Usually considered the most revolutionary piece of music ever written. For your purposes I'd suggest the Sacrificial Dance which comes at the end of the Rite of Spring.

Ride of the Valkyries, Part of Wagner's Ring cycle.
Much of Wagner's music fits the specification as many of his operas are based on ancient myths.
The Ring, Tannhauser or Flying Dutchman could all provide suitable music.

Oooh night on bare mountain by mussorgski is very good - one of my favourite pieces!! If you ever watched Fantasia, it's the music played with all the goblins and witches in the mountain (been years since have seen it though! lol). Pieces from the romantic period (circa 19th century) can be quite dramatic.

Hi:
For that sort of music, check out "Night on Bald Mountain' by Mussorgsky or "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint Saens. Hope this helps.
