No , if the government wants to control smoking by banning us from public places then they should go after the tobacco companies not the little people who are addicted.

they will try. I've all ready heard cases where they have, in homes that are attatched to other homes, such as apartments and townhouses. I'm a former three pack a day smoker, watched my father die from lung cancer, and I HATE being around smoke now! that being said, I think the level at which they have gone after smoker's is ridiculous. The government has no problem taxing the crap out of the cigarettes, in fact they make more $ on each pack than the "evil" tobbaco companies do. If the government doesn't have the guts to just ban the things outright, then shut up and leave the smoker's alone.

First of all, there are problems that may occur due to you smoking in your car. If you are a rather heavy smoker, chances are that you will be polluting the air around you as your car, which will cause a bad environment for you to be frequently in, therefore causing your health to detiorate. However, your have to look at it from the government's point of view. Your 'private' area may affect others too. Not meaning for any offense, but the main reason why the government is banning smoking in cars in the UK is because the smoke may cloud your vision, and may be the cause of a few accidents. This may seem like a very distinct possibility, but in the whole of UK there will obviously be some of these accidents happening, so therefore the government imposed this law because, well, a life is a life.

Absolutely not! If they do that, then they have effectively turned this country into something resembling Iraq under Saddam. Neighbors and family would be able to report offenders for something they legally do within the confines of their own home.
What a can of worms this would open up. If someone knew you were a smoker and they decided they didn't like you, all they'd have to do is pay a visit to your home, get a wiff of smoke then call and report you.

Until and unless smoking is declared an offence, the government cannot stop you from smoking in your own home. Mind it I am not saying about 'publically smoking"

no to me smoking bands is discrimination. To many goody goods they forget where the money comes from for hospitals and schools. Whats going to happen if everyone stop smoking, who would complain about taxes being so very high.I'm a smoker and will admit that is a dirty habit and expensive. If they want us to stop just ban it but no government will miss out on to much money

Gov't shouldn't be allowed from stopping private business from smoking in their establishments, yet the leftist socialist f'ing pink panty wearing poofs lording over our lives have decreed it to be so. Government has grown to the point where it claims rights it simply doesn't possess. What makes anyone think big brother won't be stopping there next?

I don't believe so, though there is a case where I think it's acceptable. Children live there. But in general, what you do in your own home should be allowed, as long as it's legal. But children have no say in what their parents do, and many children will develop respiratory problems and have higher chances of lung cancer if they have parents that smoke in the home.

NO!!!!!!! This American Government is imposing way too many restrictions, regulations, laws and says it is doing it for the war on terror but that is bogus lies. The government should not oppose peoples rights to smoke in their homes by any means.

As long as you are not violating the rights of others ( like committing cannibalism or rape) I think the Government has to stay out, that was the reason for the Amendments in the Constitution to protect us from our government.
