obama has kept a low profile, but enough positive influence that not many people can say bad things about him. out of nowhere he became the democratic poster child. as a resident of illinois, im sorry to say i really have no clue as to where he came from, and what he has actually done. i've kept up on most political happenings and truely see no reason as to why this sudden boost of popularity. i give him kudos to the fact that he seems to have a great deal of self respect and respect enough for his constituents to conduct his political carreer thus far in a dignified manner, unlike many other politicians, this comming from me, a conservative. my concern is that he truly seems to have a political momentum and charisma. this makes me think that his sudden national attention could be a deeper ploy in his political agenda. i don't trust politicians that are overwhelmingly popular, one because they have the potential for too much influence and two because politicians always piss someone off

You want to know more about him? Read one of his books. He has no secrets as to where he stands on the issues.
He hasn't exactly come out of nowhere or been keeping a low profile either. He was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. He ran for congress in my district in Chicago and lost to Bobby Rush, an ex black panther who basically beat him by incinuating that he was too smart to have street cred with the black community. He's held a position in the Illinois Congress before becoming senator. He's been on the national stage since his keynote speech n 2004 (two and a half years ago).
If you listen to the right they would be happy to give you useless information about how his name is one letter away from being Osama, that his middle name is Hussein, and he did cocaine in the past.

You do not like him because he has charisma ?? Has kept a low profile...maybe not on the national stage but he has made his mark with the people he serves or he wouldn't be where he is today. I don't know why anyone would want to be a politician..I would have never passed the scrutiny. It is to early to make up your mind but I for one would welcome a politician with dignity and honesty....what a breath of fresh air that would be.

Just watch what the news does to him. Even though most news organizations never met a Democrat they didn't like, if there is a scandal there, they usually find it.
If they don't Glenn Beck on headline news reveals a lot of things that no one else seems to find or know.

The fact is, youre afraid of him because he doesn't look like you so he probably doesn't think like you (Let's hope not at least; we've had enough prejudiced bigots in the White House lately).
But the only thing ACTUAL and CONCRETE anyone has said about him is he admitted smoking pot and trying cocaine. ADMITTED it out right out, no shame, no dancing, no trying to please everyone. "I did it, I admit it". Our PRESIDENT wont even do that, it took Laura, his wife, to narc him out. She has said on at least two occasions George has used coke. He was also arrested for DRUNK DRIVING in Maine in the 70s. But of course, hypocritical Republicans dont want you to know that, either.
I want to know more about his beliefs and policies, but Im certainly not going to judge him on his name or his abundance of melanin (nor think less of him because I have a melanin deficiency.).
