I have a very good British friend in Houston who calls me "Bubba" and she would *never* say that I am unfriendly or unopen., I resent this question! Why, it borders on "insulting other participants" (!!) But don't worry, I'm not the reporting type.

Strange question - do you know most Americans, or is this just cheap shot at a nation?
If you are American, how many British people do you know? Have you seen the amount of trouble one of our number has caused this week, by her nasty backstabbing?
We (British people) are just as flawed as Americans - we just don't think we are, or don't want to be seen as such. This really points to less genuine character.
Having been to the States, I can say that I found your people to be highly friendly (true I didn't go to NY!) and very genuine - against my former opinion, which I was more than happy to change.
As for drinking - Scotch or Irish Whiskey (sorry, no American brands - haha).

Then why is ALL man created equal if you British are more genuine, friendlier, and more open than most of us Americans?

I'm living in America right now and I know all sort of British People as well. You must be living in a British insane asylum if You honestly believe that or have the remarkable ability to morph reality to suit what You'd like things to be. Nice if You can do it I guess.

Every American person I have ever met has been lovely and very friendly, so I cannot believe that we British are any nicer then that. From my dealings I would say we are alot less friendly hehe. But in reality we are probably all the same on balance, some nice ones, some horrible ones...

Well that's very flattering of you!

However, I wonder if maybe you haven't been unlucky in the Americans you've met (or lucky with the Brits)?

I'm not really sure it's down to drink either. But I'm more than happy to raise a glass to you this evening! Cheers, and here's to friendship!

In my experience Americans friendlier than a Lot of Brits, but I do live in the S.E. area which may explain somewhat.

On a personal level I have found Yanks to be very friendly and open people and able to hold interesting, intelligent conversations, in fact more so than the Brits I meet round here.

Do you know most British people?
Do you know most American people?
No, I guess not, so the thought is a reflection of you and your circle, not the 300million or so people that you expand it to!
