Hello,
(ANS) There are a number of important technical points you need to know about.
No.1 You can physically remove the hard disk drive from one machine to another machine. Most PC & computers have additional drive bays or drive slots inside them. But you do need to know what your doing, so its NOT a novice level task.
No.2 Windows Millenium edition, you need to know what the exact filing system is on the Compaq machines hard disk drive. If the filing system is FAT, VFAT, or FAT32 then windows XP might not be able to see the drive (or read from it or write back to it?). You need to know if an NTFS drive can see & use files on a FAT type drive. i.e. QTN is, is NFTS backwardly compatible with the filing system used on the millenium edition. Can it see it, can it read/write to it?
No.3 However, if you DONT need to keep the files & data on the older compaq drive you can always reformat this drive and have an NTFS filing system put onto it. This way you could use it in your XP machine to provide additional hard disk storage space.

Take out the hard drive from your compaq computer, and depending on which hard drive you want to load up Windows from, change the jumper settings. One of the hard drives should be on Master, while the second should be Slave. Or you can make both Cable Select (CS) and have the primary 40pin IDE cable connect to the master, while the secondary 40pin IDE cable connect to the secondary. Make sure you have a power supply connector that connects to the second hard drive.
