He never really stops, hes always building and improving. He as to constantly keep the nest bubbled to keep the eggs inside. He will stop for a short time to breed, but if there is no female with him. He will mostly just keep adding and making it better and stronger. If no girl just dump the water and let him start over again. It keeps him busy.

It's basically a hobby for the males. You can remove it, and he'll rebuild it in a few days. If you are asking this with regard to mating you really needto read up on betta breeding.

PS- Males are actually happier alone, and nest building is just basically marking his territory.

they never really stop making one bubble nest. If it's because you are afraid to get rid of it when you clean the tank, it doesn't matter unless you are trying to get him to mate. He will just make another one
