Most certainly not. They are a NU abomination of the genre, labelled as "metal" by noobs who have just discovered a heavy sounding CD in their local store and have never heard proper, good, old, TRUE metal in their lives.
It's cr*p which gives the entire genre the bad name.

I think they are this millennium's version of metal. Kinda like bands like Disturbed, Stain'd, Puddle of Mudd, etc. It's different from the metal I grew up with. Bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Armored Saint, etc. I like the new stuff.

They're alternative metal... so I guess so. Label them whatever you want... they're decent, but come on! So many better bands out there....
