I was in the army, but the movies make it seem worse than it is. They yell and scream alot, but they are real people too. The insults were pretty minumal. they were usually when u screwed up real bad. As we progressed through basic training they got alil more relaxed. But the main thing to remember is that they are just yelling.

i used to sit on the front lawn of general Hodges mansion at camp Cooke California where my step father was the drill instructor of the Korean war training program-he was six foot three two hundred and sixty pounds of contempt for anything-i was his own kid and i was flattened nosed and deaf by six years old just for being in the same house with a war monger-there are no ways to tell u that if you don't like it here your not going to like it anyway cause it only get worse if you buck the man

ATTENTION!!!!! i love the Marines i know of those whom served in the marines and they are fierce and never to be underestemated they can do things never thought man could do with no fear attatched to the chore needed done and i mean the smallest to the largest to assist a friend or anyone in need! i respect these men and woman! Respect is due and thank all of yall!

My husband and son were both in the Marines, and I've heard some pretty 'awful' stuff from them.
