the old diplomatic saying that war is the failure of diplomacy. Equate diplomacy with politics and you have the basis of why people go to war.it is like this you and I are neighbors, your son keeps throwing rocks at my dog, I come to you to ask you to stop him, you defending your son says he does not, we discuss this more and soon tempers flare and we start to fight.
Very simplistic but that is the way it is
