I've noticed an orange maintenance light turn on in my Honda the other day. Does this mean I need to get an oil change [which I'm due for] or do I go to the dealership to see if there's another problem?

You don't tell us what year and model Honda you have.
For ALL Hondas, the little light that says "Check Engine" or looks like a little engine is an indication that the car's computer has detected a fault or failure in a circuit or system it monitors, and is directing you to repair the cause.
There is a sensor out of expected range, or a control device that isn't functioning as expected.
If the car was built in 1996 or later, this has grown to include ANYTHING that will have the potential to cause the emissions to rise beyond acceptable limits. This could be anything from an engine sensor (oxygen sensor, cam position sensor, etc.) to non-computer related items such as a loose fuel cap or a failing catalytic converter.
I recommend that you take the little car to a trusted REPUTABLE repair facility for diagnostics, and an estimate of cost to repair.

Happy Motoring

The service light indicates when there is a trouble code stored in the computer. It is not because of a needed oil change. It is because of a major problem that must be addressed for the car to run efficiently.

The lamp is part of onboard diagnostic system. Depending on the age of your car, the sensor is either faulty or that your car is having some problems. It monitors emissions, engine and transmission (if auto car). In any case, you will need to have the car checked asap or risk more costly repair later. I hope in your case it is a faulty fuse or sensor.

look in the handbook it should explain what this light means, an oil change shouldn't make a light come on unless the oil is low, which isn't good, pop in a litre of oil just to raise the level from being too low, If the handbook does not explain exactly what the fault is then take your car in and ask them to tell you what the fault is before they do any repair work on it.

it means that the sensors in your car are saying something isn't right, the only way to know for sure whats wrong is to have a mechanic hook it up to there computer (most good garages have the modern computers, not just the dealers, but don't go to VIP- they suck!!!)
