We saw M. Bagdhatis come close to winning last year and people loved it. People must be getting sick of seeing Federer / Roddick / Nadal winning all the time. Would it be good to see maybe an Andy Murray or Tursunov come out of nowhere and win the title? Even a James Blake or Mario Ancic who get little publicity during the open?

I want to see the best player win, no matter how famous or unknown they may be!

Well to answer your question, no I would not. Even though I'm sick of Federer winning, I would serioulsy be pissed off if some nobody just came and won The AUS open. Besides that, those guys don't stand a chance winning a title as long as Federer, Nadal and Roddick are still around and able to play.

plenty of unheralded talents out there and their winning would be good for the game but i agree with the other poster, the best player should prevail and that's how it should be. but talking about "small time" players, well fernando gonzalez just wrapped up an awesome game vs. aussie fave lleyton hewitt. impressive win. this guy played nearly flawless tennis for 2 sets: 33 winners, only 2 unforced errors, how about that! he did get into a bit of a rough patch which allowed hewitt to take the 3rd but after that hewitt got owned, lol. anyway, classic match there. hope the chilean gets farther than 4th round this time. he's pretty good.

I'd like to see Murray win it, but would argue that he's not a "Small Time Player"

And Blake is definately not small time, he's actually a lot of "experts" pick to win it

The ultimate survivor, irrespective of fame, should win.
