i was just wondering if my son misses a whole year (8th grade) can i put him in a test to go to the ninth grade of something like that

If he misses because he was expelled, no.

For any other reason, check with your school district office. You should be aware, however, that many skills are learned in 8th grade which are necessary for high school. Even if he is quite intelligent, it may be better for him to complete 8th grade and skip a later, useless year, like 10th.

the school can test him to see if he knows enough to go to the 9th grade and not have to repeat the 8th grade.

if he was studying at home then he can try but it is not easy and i think he should go tu 8th grade one more year . it would be better.
