The Electoral vote is what counts. It keeps a large left-wing state like California from determining the results of many lesser populated states. If the election were won on popular votes and you lived in one of the other less populated states, your vote would be wasted.

I suggest that before you ask stupid questions, that you educate yourself on "Electoral Votes" in this country. Hopefully that will clear up all the confusion with people who are STILL hung up on the 2000 election. Funny how people like YOU have all but but forgotten about the 911 attacks and that this country is at war with islamic terrorism, but you still bring up the 2000 elections and how unfair you think it is that Gore lost (despite the Supreme Court decision). Let us not forget that Gore was the Vice President of an administration that virtually ignored international terrorism. And that it was due to that administrations lack of a response that led to the planning and execution of the 911 attacks just 8 months into Bush's first term as president.

which could be amazing if we chosen a president via popular vote. we don't. We use the electorial college. as an occasion, there are 3 states, each and every with eleven human beings. each and every state has a million electorial vote. Gore wins state A with 10 votes, and loses B and C with 5 votes each and every. So he have been given 20 votes, his opponent purely have been given 12, yet his opponent wins considering he have been given 2 electorial votes (B and C) to Gores a million (A) you are able to now debate in spite of if it truly is the suitable thank you to elect a president all day lengthy in case you desire, the element is, those are the regulations on how we do it. -Dio

Refer to the constitution of the country, the popular vote doesn't win or lose a presidential campaign, it's the electoral college, which was put into effect when George Washington was president, he knew the day would come when America would need to be saved from a majority of idiots...Thanks George!!!

US elections aren't decided by popular vote, but by the electoral college.

gore won the popular vote by more 500,000 votes--but due to the electoral congress & the controversy over the votes in florida(governor jeb) the case went to the supreme court--i beleive that when you vote for the president EVERY vote should count--i hate it when i'm told that my vote does'nt count because my state is already locked in as repuclican--electoral congress is total BS--my vote & yours should count the same--don't you agree?
