I live in Edmonton, and I like to build my own pc to get the performance I want, instead of buying from places like future shop or best buy. So since I am new to city, I asked a friend if there is this kind of online store nearby and got this website: www.ncix.com

I work as a 3d animator, so I will be using the pc mostly for this, and some games, and movies.

Currently I have chosen these parts (from the website):

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Dual Core Processor

Samsung 215TW 21IN LCD

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive

I couldn't really figure out what to choose for the motherboard, memory, cpu cooler, video card, dvd writer, case, speakers?

If anyone can give me some recommendations by making a list for the above parts, I would really appreciate it. Money no object as long as it's not extreme, like quad core cpus.

Thanks alot!

Your best bet? If you REALLY want to save money, buy a barebones kit from www.tigerdirect.com and then buy any supplement parts from there OR newegg.com. I do this for a living, trust me ;-)

WELL SO FAR YOUR CHOICES ARE PRETTY GOOD - THE 6600 CONROE IS AWESOME - BUT FOR $200 MORE YOU CAN GET THE $550 (usd) QUAD CORE AND IN GRFX EDITING (ESPECIALLY THE FUTURE) A MULTITHREADED SOFTWARE APP WOULD FLY LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW....

AS FAR AS GRFX CARD - RULE OF THUMB IS IF IT CAN PLAY THE LATEST GAMES - IT CAN DO ANYTHING--- SO GET THE $440 nVidia 8800 GTs - IT IS PLENTY POWERFUL - AS FAR AS THE MOBO - GET AN ASUS W/ THE nVidia 680/690 CHIPSET - RAM GET ANYTHING W/ A DECENT NAME BRAND - NO NEED TO GET THE OVERCLOCKING/GAMING RAM

DVD/WRITER - LG OR LITE-ON ARE GREAT - THE BEST IS PLEXTOR

THE CONROE AND QUAD CORE CHIPS RUN MUCH COOLER TYHAN PAST CPUs SO A COOLER IS KINDA MOOT - JUST DONT SKIMP AND GET SOME $5.00 PIECE OF CRAP

A POWER SUPLY IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART WHEN CONSIDERING A COMP BUILD - GET AN ANTEC (GOOD & CHEAP ) NOTHING LESS THAN 500 W

CASE - ANTEC 900
SPEAKERS - LOGITECH Z5400
OF COURSE ALL OF THESE ARE RELATIVE ON YOUR BUDGET

IF YOU REALLY WANT NICE CASE - FGOTO WWW.KOOLANCE.COM AND GET ONE OF THEIR LIAN-LI CONVERTED 1000W WATERCOOLED CASES @ $600

IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS (CANADA) VOODOOPC.COM IS A GREAT MANUFACTURER - GET SOME IDEAS FROM THEIR BUILDS.
