The scariest movie I've ever seen was The Exorcist. When it first came out it scared people to death and gave many nightmares. Today, it has been imitated so many times it doesn't have the same impact as before. Also, the first half of Alien is pretty powerful as well, but then it sort of loses some of its punch towards the end.

"The Mask" A 3-D movie from the 1950's. The person put on an ancient ritual mask and was transported to the inner recesses of their mind. Real scary stuff. If you ever get the chance to see it, don't watch it alone.
