whats some other words they spell thats different then Yankee ways. like the word colour and neighbourhood.not color and neighborhood.Thanks Y'all.Ow.and why do they add the u?well .some slang words if you wont to add them.Thanks Y'all.

Both of those spellings are the way someone in England would spell those words too.
Fetch is a common word in the south
supper, not dinner
Y'all is a contraction of you & all, BTW

I've never seen Southerners spell words differently from northerners (USA, I mean) because we all read the same books and use the same dictionaries. To me, "colour" and "theatre," for example, are British, not Southern. We pronounce things differently (my "five" comes out "fahv"), but the words aren't spelled differently.

Southerners sometimes say we're "fixing to" do something. "Y'all" is indeed a very convenient contraction for "you all." Also, Southerners are far more likely to call their elders "Sir" or "Ma'am." When my family moved from Virginia to Chicago, my brothers actually got in trouble for saying "Sir" to their coach, because he thought they were being smart-alecks!

I am not sure that they do this, I could be wrong but I have never seen it, like someone else said I thought that was an British thing. I am from southern ohio i did not know that it is funny to hear us speak lol.

my step dad is from southern ohio, and he always likes to say "like a bull dog on a pork chop!" or when he says he's from ohio, he says "ohia"...LOL..cracks me up! they add the "U" because they dont know how to spell...you should hear how some ohioans sound after a few beers and a couple games of euchre....total entertainment for the whole night! only in ohia! i love this place!
