Fresh strings on a guitar sound great.

I change strings on my electric at least once a month and use Ernie Ball Power Slinkys (11s).

For my acoustic I'll let them go till they're really bad (It's such a pain to change strings with bridge pins) I've been putting D'Addarios 12s on it lately.

I let it go so long that when I do change them, my crappy Ibanez sounds like a Martin, the improvement is so dramatic.

what?....It sound like you haven't played long enough for the pads of your fingers to build up calluses yet...acoustic guitar strings are hard....if you are having so much trouble ..you might consider going to a classical guitar..which has nylon strings ...and most people change their own guitar strings......
