Would a female president be really be reveared in countries where women are 2nd class citizens?
As resentful as Muslim countries are towards the US in recent days could a woman be effective dealing with EVERY other country of the world?

Asking a question shows my ignorance?
I would think holding to a belief without the benefit of the information would make me ignorant!
I wasn't trying to provoke anger....just honestly asking a question.
Yes...I DO remember when we were in Kuwait seeing US service women wearing head wraps because they were instructed to do so. During the Gulf War.
I do think women are just as capable as any man in regard to representing a country like the United States.
I was wondering if every other country of the world would HONESTLY and PRODUCTIVELY deal with a woman president!!
Why so angry? Isn't this supposed to be a forum for people to share knowledge?

I cannot believe that with the middle east being in the news constantly these days people haven't made the effort to understand the region.
If you are interested enough to ask the question, please gain a little more knowledge so that us women from the middle east don't look at you as an ignorant and don't feel that you think the middle east is on another planet full of very " different" people.
1- the middle east is not one country it's some odd 20-25 countries ( can't be bothered counting)
2- Except for 2 or 3 countries, women participate in the political life
3- except for saudi arabia (which is already "dealing effectively" with the U.S) and iran ( which is not regardless of the sex of president Bush) women have the choice and wear a head scarf by choice.
4- I'm not sure if condoleeza rice is back home but she has been galavanting around the middle east for the past week, no head scarf and no one has refused to meet with her!!!
5- Now I agree that in some of the countries women are disadvantaged ( again not all) but I think that by asking such a question and deciding that a women can't do the job ( and please anything replacing what you have now will do better blindfolded) you have shown more sexism, and coming from a woman i find this highly offensive, prejudiced and ignorant.
Note to ishmael: please check a picture of the iraqi parliament to find unveiled women in iraq.

This is a non issue. When I am there, I find myself being served by women dressed as we do, walking around with mixes of both cultures accepted well in most public areas of the Middle East as we accept people of different nationalities in ours.

A few days ago Condy Rice was shaking hands with Saudi Arabia's king and her head wasn't covered at all. Saudi Arabia is about as Muslim as they come.
