Interesting... you ask a general question... but then you name an individual. Telling.
If I name a bad straight person, they're all bad now? Sounds like you're just trying to get people to rethink their immediate response, or to try and keep them from making a resounding "YES!"
But for me, that's fine. I'd never answer a question like this with a "yes" anyway. I like to base such decisions on a person's merits and the level of trust; gay or not would never be a consideration.
I wouldn't ask any couple to babysit, and I'd expect babysitters, male and female, gay and straight, not to bring their boy-/girlfriends with them. I guess if kids are staying at a friend's/relative's house, then a couple may end up "babysitting" then.
I'd never take a babysitting job with my boyfriend; that would be bad. I've never had a problem when I've done babysitting though.

I am very strict about who watches my child... I'm far away from family so no one babysits for me, I keep my kid with me at all times unless she is in school. I don't know Mark Foley and I don't know anyone gay well enough to decide whether or not they can babysit. If I had a gay friend that I knew really well and my child liked them, then I may let them babysit. Otherwise the only time anyone babysits my child is when I'm home visiting and I'll let my parents watch her.. that's it.

Only if I knew them well and trusted them. I'd never let anyone i didn't know babysit, gay or straight. I don't know Mark Foley which would classify him as a 'complete stranger' and everything I heard about him is pretty shady so I'd never let him babysit.

Why are you asking two questions what do you want to know. I don't know who Mark Foley is so I wont talk about them. All I can say is what has that got to do with the price of fish. People choose the people they think are responsible to look after their child. I don't think anyone with a brain would let some drunk straight person look after their child would you? You genrally let someone you know well look after your child, right. If you don't then you are not really a good parent. People can do what they want it's their choice and their child.

Trust would be based on an individual basis. Mark Foley? No way, no how. But I have gay friends, and I would trust anyone of them to sit my 3 year old.

I wouldn't trust Mark Foley or any other Republican
I'd trust any of my gay friends....I don't think I'd want to be friends with anyone I couldn't trust. I would leave any child with anyone who wasn't a good friend.

I would trust a gay couple if I knew them (just like I'd trust a straight couple if I knew them).
Mark Foley is a known pedophile. Why would I trust a known pedophile?

Straight men are a lot more likely to molest your child. I, for one, won't be leaving my children with any straight couples without a nanny-cam.
Also, for the record everyone, the research has shown that men are socially designed to feel less confident about their child-rearing skills. The same research also shows that, when put to the test, they are equally competent to women. They can do just as well, it's just that they don't think they can. (And when, with straight couples, the woman reinforces that and doesn't trust the man, or doesn't allow the man an active part in caring for the child, that only reinforces the lack of confidence).

By your logic I should not trust anyone straight to babysit, for the overwhelming majority of pedophiles are straight.

Mark Foley, who is that? If he's an ******,then no. Same goes for gay couple. If they are cool and I like them then yeah, they could babysit.
