i think people should accept who they are. i am black and am proud, would never dream of being anyless or anymore. so if someone calls me "black, coloured or person of colour" it wouldnt bother me one bit. thats what i am. and i except a white or asian person to be happy enough with themselves not to be bothered if they were called white or asian!
so jermaine's and jade's comments were not so much racist more bad taste and should reflect either ones inferiority complexes or whatever other issues the both of them are suffering from.

I have just momentarily answered a previous Question, on the term used by Jermaine, (White trash) to describe Jade. Jermaine is most certainly prejudiced, having been brought up in the Southern States. However his use of the term, 'People of colour', maybe politically correct these days. This term could also determine the descriptive use of language to describe a person or how descriptive adjectives are used in everyday terms. ie., 'a person of colour'. A person with a very colourful use of language to be descriptive. Whether that is by ignorance or prejudice or by ones own intelligence. Go figure.

This seems to be the sad world we live in. A black person can call a white person all the swear words under the sun and nothing is done but if you're white and say any little thing about another race you're suddenly on the same footing as Adolf Hitler.
Political Correctness and "Positive Discrimination" is all geared up against you if you're white.

Who's Jermaine? And being black I'd rather be called colored than a "person of color". Enough with the new age lamo terms- they all mean the same thing. Colored was a polite term and black was the rude term and in the 80s some idiot randomly decided to change them around.

'Prejudgice' is pre-judging people without prior knowledge of that person. A 'racist' is a person who is in a position of economic, political or social power where their prejudice impedes the progress and advancement of another person.
I might be prejudiced against you because you are black, but I'm not racist because I'm not in a position of power to be able to 'act out' that prejudice. I would be racist if I was a manager or business-owner interviewing you then rejecting you because you are black. I would be racist if I was a colleague who is using my prejudgice to turn others against you and manipulating things to prevent you from advancing because of your colour.
If I call a black person the 'N' word...I'm prejudiced but not a racist. We can all be called all sorts of names based on our height, weight, looks or anything else that makes us stand out. I would certainly be a racist if I called you the 'N' word and also prevented your personal progress/advancement because of prejudiced views of black people.
Jermaine was asked if his wife was black by Shilpa...and he replied "...of course !". This response indicates that Jermaine has a prejudiced stance and would not consider marrying another race. Jermaine also referred to one housemate as 'white trash', however he had observed that housemate's behaviour over a number of days and so was not 'pre judging' without prior knowledge. He did have knowledge of her over a number of days before he made that comment. In conclusion, I believe that Jermaine is prejudiced, however would his prejudice prevent him from employing white people and would he stop a white person's advancement within his business? Would he prevent his children or siblings (Michael !) marrying a white person? I don't think so. Jermaine may dislike his children/siblings marrying white ('prejudice') but would he actively prevent them marrying white ('racist') ? No, I don't think so. Jermaine is indeed prejudiced...but not racist.

I would say that it is racist; it's putting a label on people. Wouldn't it be far better to try and get to know each other. People everywhere have the same desires and hopes and fears; we're basically all the same. Too bad that we can't live together without labels.

It should work both ways, unfortunately the press and public only have this knee-jerk reaction when it applies to white people applying to black/ coloured people. It's still racism !
