I dont know if it is just in America or not, but does it not seem that every decade causes the people's persona to evolve that much more?
I mean look at films back in the 30's or 40' or 50' 60's , every decade changes the way people act even more. What do you think people from the 40's would think about the way people act now?
Do you think that news anchors off of television or people in movies or radio personalities not only change the way we think , but change the way we behave, our actions, the way we talk and dress as well?

What makes people so changeable more than just thinking by this news medium?
How it changes culture so easily so quickly?

Well the entertainment around us changes because we change. Sure it might play a role but it isn't solely responsible.. Kids rebel their parents, don't want to do things the same was as them.. so they change and start acting/doing something different.. media catches on and puts it on every movie/tv show/radio station in the area and causes that 'fad' to explode... It has to start with a change in people first otherwise who would be there to make the 'whatever' it is, and why would they invest money in it with no clue as to what if any profits will be made... if suddenly i decide to create a new recording studio and produce only opera cause i wanna bring it to mainstream.. and i spend thousands on advertising it EVERYWHERE.. do you think im going to influence how anyone acts? No cause the people havent changed, they still don't like opera.

And even with the role the media does play.. It's nothing new it's always been around somehow to influence people.. from tv, to propaganda, to word of mouth way back before the electronics came.. whatever it was people were talking about, that's what everyone was interested in... definately nothing new to society.

billy, I definately think tv has a great influence on us as adults as well as our children. It is very sad. I traveled to London and Nigeria, when I went 1yr ago i noticed something very different, they have many entertainment shows but they also have a lot of great reality shows. Reality shows different from ours of course. The reality shows in other countrys display news and everyday events to be concerened about. It's very wierd that we get cnn,and the basic news but mostly no detailed mesg about what is really going on. we're clueless as a society. I belive the tv network passifies us with so much drama and sex related interest that we don't look any further. We don't really have the desire to research anything. It's like the tv programs put us in this comfort zone. Like tv is a escape from your everyday problems. I go to work and am a full time student. After being awa from home for the majority of the day u would think upon getting home and compfortable i would probaly rest or have family time with my familysadly to say We all fall victim,we usually come home, greet one another, shower, get ready for dinner and then it's off to tv for the rest of the night well until bed time. we talk over dinner but i noticed many families have this same routine. We look to the tv to view everyone elses problems. I think years ago people were more family oriented because they did not have so many distractions in between them. It's like the tv programs our reactive mind.

I'm in the media and part of my job is to try and influence people. But it's only words on paper, it's not like I'm holding a gun to their heads or anything.

A BIG yes to that, but it seems to effect people for the worse instead of better.
