how do you defy a group of people at work who try to discredit ut all cost , out of jeolousyand bitternes.?

just bcoz u r more smarter at doings things and regoniseable than them. senior peolpe always recomend u and assingn to complicated tasks. now this buggers try to desroy me but always smile and laugh with them and compliment them, and help them, how would you handle it?

They could also have a reason for their 'jealousy' as you put it. That reason being that maybe instead of working your way up to being recognised by senior management perhaps you brown nosed your way there whilst also stabbing a few of the people that you work with in the back and then twisting the knife because of your own insecurity!!!!!!!

Dont focus on negativity and bad friends. Be as kind as you can, but keep it to a limit. You dont need your friends to pass on a new career opportunity. Plan well and dont tell anyone, you will achieve much more and be a great success one day. Stay kind and true to yourself and always share and help where you can. If the opinion of others are really that important to you than accept their criticisms as you go along, dont bear grudges, make jokes. One of these days they are going to need you more than they know.

"Don't let the bastards grind you down" in other words don't let them see that there getting to you, if you do then they will carry on doing what there doing, if they see it has no effect then they will stop putting you down, If its really bad then go to your HR department and have a word with them.
