Materialism? Greed and Selfishness? Isolation?

What about Hollywood B.S. culture? Do you think that many are turned off because everybody reminds them of that character they hate in that movie?

Does it seem that Americans as well as maybe British copy annoying personalities off of television and film and it turns people off? maybe this is what causes isolation and loneliness? this false pretense and perception of that in return?

if its any consellation, I'm English and lonely and depressed. Its everywhere. In university I found that some of the rich kids had such stable lives they learnt about life through movies and TV and often imitated characters behaviour because that was what they thought society wanted. One boy was a nightmare. he used to quote directly out of Dawson's Creek, and then started to bully me really badly because he saw an episode on Buffy where Xander gets possessed by an evil spirit or something because he thought it made him cool. He didn't know that in the real world he was likely to get his head kicked in. Its always bloody buffy.
