In no particular order, the following are at least the minimum number of factors that were considered before going to war:

Security of the Mid East
Possible existence of WMD's
Possible ties to terrorists
Violation of UN resolutions
Future stability of world's oil supply

Looking back, it's easy to discount the now known changes to this list and hone in on the one thing that attempts to make the US (Bush) look as unpopular as possible.

For me, I thought that we should have enforced the UN resolutions after the first or second time Saddam violated them. What did the UN do? Asked him time and time again to please allow the inspections to go through. Never taking action against him. Could that be that a lot of them were pretty satisfied with Saddam as long as the oil-for-food scandal was going on?
The fact that everyone believed that WMD's existed added more reason at the time. Just because we didn't find them after the war started doesn't mean they weren't there up until the time it did start. Talk to a soldier that went there during the initial days and ask him if he was concerned about WMD's or did he just like carrying and wearing the extra gear cause it made him/her look cool.

But, hey, don't worry about all these other details. Just reduce it down to one thing. It will help keep you from losing your hair and getting headaches.

So what if it is, this country needs oil to keep our economy going. Oil is a vital resource for this country's progress. Also the libs don't want us drilling for oil in our own country so we have to get a big supply from somewhere and Iraq is the perfect place.

Dude, the only Rep-Media out there is Fox. Everything else is Liberal-"Diversity"-"Fairness" garbage.

BUT anyways, Okay, so what if it is. Since a certain group of idiots won't let us drill for our OWN oil, we have to get it from somewhere. Do you have any idea how many MILLIONS of jobs depend on oil? Well-being my foot.

That's why the Un kept giving Saddam deadlines for the inspectors to go inspect their oil. It was not for oil it was because of WMD, or do you think the American media made that up too.

then why wont the libs let us drill more in the USA so we wouldn't need as much oil from the middle east

No, you're clearly not right.

If it was about oil, we would have worked directly with Saddam like the Russians and French wear.

But we will be thinking of the best interest of the country.. however this will continue to require us to vote against candidates you support.
