Bret Hart. It's nicer to be known for your wrestling skills than for drinking beer and flipping the bird.

Stone Cold Steve Austin has the best legacy in wrestling today. No other wrestler past, or present that has done more that SCSA has done. The only person that came the closest is the Undertaker. Austin has done everything that there was to do, and also he has defeated them all more times than anybody else. STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN is #1. No other wrestler can compair to SCSA!

Austin will have the better legacy simple based on the fact that he wasn't involved with the Montreal Screwjob and doesn't have the question over his head of whether or not he did the right thing.
Outside of that, he is a WWE Triple Crown Winner, former King of the Ring, the only man to win 3 Wrestlemania World Title matches, was a great technical wrestler before Owen dropped him on his head and, was on top of the top company during wrestling's biggest boom period. He is a household name all around the US.
Hart was good while he was around but, with the shadow of Montreal and him being in WCW when they were on the downturn hurts him.
