Ignore them. i have a gay best friend. It's not about what your preference is. I would rather have a gay friend that was always there for me rather than a straight friend that always shits on me. But just ignore them, they are retarded.

My brother was gay and before his death from aids, he was my best friend. Since then, I've had many gay friends. They have been some of the most thoughtful, caring and accepting friends that I've had. They don't get jealous that I'm dating and they're not. Once married, if my husband was out of town, I could count on them to escort me or keep me company. I can go out with a gay couple and never feel like a third wheel as I would with a straight couple. They have the most wicked sense of humor and the most amazing fashion sense. Anytime I've ever asked a gay friend for their opinion on an outfit or a pair of shoes, they've been completely honest. Girlfriends are afraid you'll get angry if they truthfully answer the question, "Does this make me look fat? " or "Is this color right for me?" I know this all sounds stereotypical, but they're normal people just like the rest of us. If we choose to befriend someone and spend time with them, whether gay or straight, they must be compatible. Loyalty, trust and honesty are what we all need in a friend. Gay, straight, color or nationality don't determine those traits, the individual's heart does.

People fear what they don't understand.
My sister is gay and we are best friends. We have gay and straight friends. Since she came out, we have lost a lot of friends, people we have and known and hung out with for years but they couldn't handle it, their loss. The small group of friends we have now are way more valuable then the many we had before because they accept us all for who we are.

You are right that people are judgmental about it, ignorance is a terrible thing. One of my closest friends said something to someone once that explains it all, "you are only gay in bed", it sounds bad at first but when you think about it it makes sense. Gay people don't require different food or air, they have two eyes and a heart beat, just like everyone else. They don't have to shop at gay only stores or read gay only books, they are people just like everyone else. We have our traits that make us who we are, everyone does. For the people in your life who think gay people are somehow different, they are ignorant and not worth your time if they won't open their minds.

Minds are like parachutes, they don't work when they are not open.

Okay, i am one of those people who you are talking about. I do understand that gays are fun to talk to and are really funny. I have some gay friends but i'm not close with them. i do not feel comfortable when i see gays kissing in tv or broke back mountain. it's just in my comfort zone yet.
