Is it just me or are the songs today lacking in content because the artists are just out for money and not putting heart and soul into it like great artists from the past? I have to constantly change stations because it sounds like a old record scratched and stuck in place.

YES YES YES. Music today has no soul. If it doesn't have soul or depth, then it's not music. Let's have more Cab Calloways and Otis Reddings and less Jay-Zs and Puff Daddys, shall we?

The music sucks because you aren't looking hard enough. Do not listen to the regular radio. Do not listen to what is on TV. Now put on Yahoo's music radio and pick th prefrences you want to hear. Go in and rate all the artists that you remember off the top of your head, because if you hate the artist, you sure don't want to listen to them.
Now go to www.download.com and listen to at least the samples of the provided songs of all the bands in the prefrences you like. See if you can rate those artists in yahoo music radio. Go to epitonic.com and do the same thing. Chances are you will start finding alternative bands that you like, but never heard of.

What is on the radio is rarely non produced music now. Producers are not looking for new talent. They are making new talent. It gives them more money because the producers can keep all the royalties. You want the pay their dues musicans, which is what made the music better.

Yeah, I agree, today's music stinks. The bands all sound like Green Day. No real content anymore.

I've just started downloading live versions of all the old stuff like Led Zep, Grateful Dead, Phish, Canned Heat, Rare Earth, Rush.

People are getting most of their music as downloads now.
We've had too long of record company manipulation.
