i am going to the dance with this boy that i don't know very well. one of his friends says that he is a terrible dancer. i don't know if we should avoid dancing for the entire dance or if i should acept the fact that he can't dance. i am not going to the dance with someone who is going to do the funky chicken!!!

why not? dancing isn't about looking good to everyone else, its about having fun and expressing what you're feeling while you're dancing. if you're that concerned, just lead him. if you don't know how to do that, then you're probably not the best dancer either.

Why can't you just have a laugh. I studied ballet for 10 years and am still a competent dancer, but why does it all have to be so serious? Do the funky chicken and just laugh at yourself and your date. Dancing is about expression and creativity and all those things but it's also about having fun. Keep that in mind...

Well, if he dances weird and does funky chicken like dance, then just laugh it off. Jokingly ask him where he learned to dance and then proceed to show him some dance moves. I had 2 left feet until my high school sweetie showed me some moves. No, I am like Rico Suave...lol

doin the funky chicken is goin to be embarassing for sure.since u dont know him very well, then i think u should try getting to know him before the dance comes up and if he reaaly doesnt know how to dance i think u should avoid dancing and find other means to have fun.

Why not avoid dancing all together. Just talk or something else.

Don't be mean! Try to help the poor guy. If he makes mistakes, kindly corect them. Such as, "When we do this move, it's this pattern." But try not to be snobby, or he'll just try to mess it up. You could ask him if he wants help before you correct him.
