I'm a girl. I have facial and physical features that are considered very feminine but I have mental traits and interests that are stereotypically masculine-technical and systematic and less touchy-feely. I don't feel naturally sympathetic. I mean, I act sweet to people and paste a fake grin on my face but I'd rather do stuff like fish, play games, read and do hobbies than sit around and giggle, hold hands and shop at the mall. I just feel like I think more like a guy and they seem more interested in what I have to say. I also like satire and irony which girls don't seem to get. Girls really don't seem as interested, if I want to have a deep conversation they just pretend to be interested even though I can tell they're bored. I'm pursuing majors and minors in Natural Resources, Language, History, and Philosophy whereas most girls seem to want to be nurses, teachers and counselors.

no this thinking is not due to high testosterone levels.there are loads of girls who dont have the extreme girly interests but like to be more practical.not all girls are sympathetic, loads are the indifferent kind.u seem to be getting confused with the stereotypical description of girls-who love shopping, being touchy feely and giggling.but u just seem like a normal girl who is not the excessively girly kinds.reading, playing games are things my friends(who are girls) as well as i like to engage in.u seem completely like a girl to me(a pretty practical and smart one) so dont confuse urself unnecessarily.

I think you're just stereotyping women too much. You sound perfectly normal to me. You think all women want to "sit around and giggle, hold hands, and shop at malls"(?) A lot of thirteen year old girls maybe...Women don't like to "fish, read, and 'do hobbies"? That's the definition of masculine? From what you wrote, you sound a lot like me (except that I'm sympathetic)...and I consider myself very feminine. And women don't like satire? THAT'S ironic!

No, you're just an intelligent human being. Testosterone usually manifests itself physically. Lots of girls don't want to be nurses or counselors--personally I'm studying to be a surgeon and I enjoy reading books a lot and most of my girl friends enjoy a good conversation about politics or a book we've all read. Lots of my friends want to be writers, lawyers, or research scientists. You'll meet more women like yourself as you keep pursuing your major and especially if you to grad school. We're out there.

Are your ring fingers longer than your index fingers? If so, your body, including your brain, was affected by testosterone in the first trimester of your mother's pregnancy.

Many women have "male" brains for that reason. Their bodies have also been sensitized to respond to testosterone, but they won't develop beard growth etc. unless in later life they have either high levels of testosterone or low levels of estrogen or shbg. So it is possible to have a male brain with a body that's outwardly feminine. Some of the femininity may disappear, of course, when the estrogen levels drop at menopause.

You sound like a typical tomboy. Theres nothing odd about that.

You probably dont have high testosterone levels, you just have your personal preferences, like everyone else, but yours just arent as stereotyped-girly.

Dont worry about it too much. Be yourself.

I do not know, but they can check for that very easily. If you want to know, have your Doctor run that blood screen.
