They actually had a lady, who had a fetish for purses, and a debt of $20,000, start up a website. She asked everyone to send her $1.00 to help her get out of debt, and before she knew it, she had $13,000 from people who visited her website.

Could you ever see yourself begging people to help you? They had several people doing that, even Screech from "Saved by the Bell".

One pay day we had three lovely ladies come into where a bunch of us worked. They were selling raffle tickets. Most of us have something we support and we buy and support each other. One guy bought a ticket from this extremely good looking lady and started laughing. She wasn't raffling anything. That piece of paper was a receipt and thank you for helping her pay her rent. I volunteer for a nonprofit--SPCA--and beg for money to help us help the animals on a regular basis. I've stood in front of WalMart with a few things to sell and a large donation can. I've begged on the streets at traffic lights. I've written letters and begged. It's all for a good cause and my begging reminds people that they need to give back to the community that supports them. I've learned that some of these helpless people you see begging on the streets actually make a pretty good living. Give appropriately.

You know, it is very interesting that we reward people who are irresponsible. We give a dollar here and there out the window to that person with the sign written on a piece of cardboard trying to make us feel like they are a victim. We support people all day long in this country who say literally, "F**K America". Well, I think anyone who thinks they are doing their part by supporting someone who can spend $20k on purses and expect that others would help pay for those purses is a fool. A big fool. Every night, I see commercials that say that we need to help people in other countries because it is our duty and responsiblity. Yet we fail to respond to the needs of those people in our own neighborhood. Do you know how many people in your neighborhood are facing foreclosure or bankruptcy due to a valid reason like a job loss due to no fault of their own? How many children are in your community in orphanages and hoping and praying for a normal life? How many different scenarios can you think of where someone due to no fault of their own have had their lives traumatically changed. Yet we choose to support some moron who cannot manage to control their own impulses and then try to call it a disease. It is crystal clear to me that there are at least 13,000 morons out there. Would I beg for money? It depends. If it were simply because I was lazy and wanted free support? No. If it were out of pure desperation and my kids were facing having to live on the streets and go hungry. Absolutely.
Thanks for the great question and causing some people to think.

Is it begging to ask someone to help you? If my kid needed diapers and I were a few dollars short, I'd be more inclined to ask for spare change for a purpose rather than to ask strangers to help me get out of debt. I got myself into debt. I am not a victim... I am an idiot. In my opinion, begging is asking someone over and over to pursuade them to donate. Begging is if you say "no" and they continue to ask, "please, please help me." But to ask for money expecting a yes or no response and moving on is not begging. I have no problem helping people who are trying to help themselves with legitimate needs like food, shelter, bus fare, etc.

What a pitiful statement on the value system we exist in. People have no sense of responsibility. And no shame in asking others to pay for their greed and avarice!
