Yes, They were definitely developed,all types. One side note , I like side notes, The C-19 Flying Boxcar was the link between the old C-3 & C-4 military cargo planes and the modern C-130 all the way to the C-7.

Cessna and Piper made a lot of "private" planes also at this time. Recreational flying by private citizens was popular, then, as now.
