I agree with lauren (below) to a point. That is, "liberals" are outspoken about injustice and human suffering. Neo-cons are outspoken about supporting wars and the rich.

Blind liberals will support Hillary Clinton who is such an obvious phony who also supported the war until it recently became so unpopular. So lauren's point is well taken.

To VoodoOpun (below): "Gingrich? Remember Lott?" Lott is back in his original position. Gingrich, like many repubs, was caught breaking the law (book deal). The public held them responsible.
What about Fowley, Lay, Abramoff, Cunningham? They were held accountable by the law, not ny repubs. Worst of all Bush, who obviously lied to start a war. When eill the right hold him accountable?

What planet do you live on? Republicans are the ones that constantly hold their elected officials responsible for their idiocy. Remember Gingrich? Remember Lott? How often do you libs call racist ex-KKK members like Byrd (D) on the carpet for their wrongdoing? Or flat out liars like Pelosi who pushed through a minimum wage hike for everyone in the country EXCEPT for her district.
Do you libs even realize how ludicrous you sound when you call Reps sheep? You're the ones that swallow everything in the news media, everything the college profs tell you, and everything Hollywood force feeds you. Talk about a bunch of sheep.
*****book deal?..... You do realize that your girl Hillary made much more money than Newt on her book deal WHILE the company the published her had business before the senate, don't you? When is the left planning go after her? Hypocrisy at its finest. Why not name even one Dem your side has held accountable. Is Reid going to give up his position for his part in the Abramoff scandal? Never happen.

In John Dean's book "Conservatives Without Conscience," he presents years of psychological research into the psyche of a conservative.
One of the primary characteristics of the conservative is tremendous fear, bordering on paranoia, which makes them look for an authoritarian figure to blindly follow.
So the answer to your question is that it's a personality disorder.

u want to know whats sad? everybody is so concerned about who said it and who did it, instead of what was done. democrats are guilty but ooohhhh republicans own the sin. Even though wars and blind judgment towards differant peoples are against the founding principles of the values and belief of Christians, "republicans" buy into the problems and issues endorsed but the republican party. but to be honest this is our fault as the American people. we let two groups of rich smart asses TELL us whats important instead of us making them listen to what we KNOW is important, both parties are right in allot of things but whats wrong is they don't listen to what we need, we need to make them. but they do listen to those with mony big groups with big agendas, some of which we want or think we need, but allot of which only serve thier pockets. the DEC of independence says when a gov is found to be inadequate it is the right of the people to abolish it and make a new government reflecting the values of the people. that's whats going on in the senate, no the Democrats aren't perfect, in allot of ways theyre soft but theyre better than the pridefull tyranny of the majority republicans that refuse to heed any prudent reasoning. it was time for that to end...... and to answer u they protect republicans even when their wrong because they think that any of their wrongness reflects of their own faulty values which isn't true its possible and smart to believe in republican principles but disagree with our republican Representatives, we as democrats do but not in the die hard way of the other party

2. Savage inner-city criminals;
3. Flag burners;
