I know it sounds weird but i also know i am not the only one since i have read "What to Expect When you are expecting" , this is my second pregnancy and with both i have had an excess of saliva and a constant phlegmy feeling in the back of my throat. I drink a ton of water to try to flush out my throat but whenever i am not drinking water, the feeling of something stuck in my throat makes me gag frequently and of course makes me nauseous. has this ever happened to anyone or am i just weird? does anything work other than a constant water flow?

omigosh do i have it too! i actually woke up last night because my pillow was so wet from my drooling. it seems like i'm always swallowing spit, and it make me nauseous, too. the preggie pops seem to help, with both the nausea and the saliva. try sucking on hard candy. i know it seems like that would make it worse, but it really does help. best of luck, and congrats.

I had this with both of my pregnancies, but I don't remember how far into the pregnancies it started. One thing to note: Take *especially good* care of your teeth while you're pregnant. The excess saliva can wreak havoc on your teeth, causing plaque, tartar and, worst of all, cavities that you never had before!

To get rid of this annoying pregnancy blah.Suck on hard candies. When I was pregnant I was stuck in the bed for 9mnths. I lost 72 lbs. I couldn't eat or drink anything.I was in the hospital every couple weeks on iv. That was sucky. And I did four times and it happened every time lucky me!!!! I also took nausau pills those saved me from throwing up all the time and stopped felling that ill feeling.

Yes its very normal and you are not the only one. I will never forget when I was pregnant and working at Target as a cashier. A customer asked me a question and I opened up my mouth to answer and a huge long drool dripped out onto the counter in front of both of us. I was so embarassed - I wiped it up said oops and the customer just left. lol! soo funny now!

omg! when i was pregnant i drooled so much that i had to use empty soda bottles as spit jugs and managed to keep them full ugh!...i know its disgusting but thats life and apart of pregnancy. Torwards the end of my last trimester someone must of turned the faucet because things really slowed down...what a relief.....good luck!

Yes It so normal. I didn't do this until my fourth pregnancy and I thought I was losing my mind. You can suck on candies and I took two tums tablets when it got uncomfortable of me. It will pass though.
Good luck!

This is normal for some pregnant women. I had it a little bit and sucking on hard candies and chewing gum helped.
