All the time.
There's always the worry that you don't have the same sense of humor, or share the same principles, and you will offend them by some throwaway comment that wasn't intended to cause offence.

I don't worry much, if I make a new friend I just act like myself, if they don't like it, they were never meant to be your friend in the first place.
